The Shadow
AUDIO CD:
“The interest in the Christocentric nature of the Scripture is not only an academic discussion. The person in the pew wants to know if there is a real story-line to the assembled Scriptures. What a thrill to find that the story-line is the exaltation of Christ through the redemption of man! With thoughtful prose and a warm style, Ryan Dalgliesh makes this truth real for the reader. I encourage you to let Ryan help you see God’s plan unfolding in the Scriptures!”

“THE SHADOW is a passionate plea for people to behold Christ. It is drenched in truth and saturated with rhetoric. This collision of Old Testament scripture and stimulating poetry fueled in me a deeper affection for Jesus. May the revelation of God through this study renew your sense of awe and wonder of our unsearchable God, and move your heart to respond in worship.”

It has, it is, and it will always be about JESUS. The Shadow is a revelation of Jesus from the before the first page in the Bible to the far beyond the last page. It makes the eternal plan of creator God to rescue us through His son Jesus come together like a beautiful collage of pieces designed in advance to fit just right- the picture it paints it beyond beautiful- it is a picture of Jesus- His love for us, His sacrifice for us, and His impending return for us. I found myself digging through the Word of God searching for the next picture of Jesus- I found significance in the Old Testament that I never knew existed. I found Jesus time after time. Ryan has written what I believe to be one of the more important books of our time- a time when people have abandon the truths of the Bible for personal opinion or theological theories. The Shadow is not a theory, it is a perfect picture of the perfect plan God had for us from eternity past. You will find yourself more and more in love with Jesus and completely captivated by the forethought of God for you. Get it. Read it. Get it for others.

Ryan has retold through vibrant, skillful writing the most beautiful and soul changing story humanity will ever hear – the story of Jesus Christ, from the beginning of creation to His future return. And Ryan tells that story like I have never heard it told. He tells it with passion and extensive Bible knowledge in a way that turns the Old Testament accounts into a personal exploration with Christ of your own heart. There are many books that will improve your knowledge of God, but few that will make you love Him more. This is the latter. Wherever you are on your journey with Christ, I believe that this book will be a transformational experience for you.
This book is a must read. Ryan took one of the soul touching stories and wrote a book you just won’t want to put down. I’ve never heard the stories of the Old Testament in this way. When you read this it takes you far beyond the pages of the book into a soul examining state…..that makes you think of Christ being in everything from the beginning until his return. Ryan’s passion and knowledge of the bible is evident in this book. No matter where you are on your walk with Christ it will completely transform your relationship with Him!
This book is extremely captivating. Ryan does an amazing job of showing you Christ in the Old Testament. His choice of words makes you want to continue reading and brings new light to the wonderful stories of the OT. My eyes were opened to Christ in places that I had not seen Him before. Ryan’s retelling of Noah’s Ark truly made me feel like I was right there watching it all unfold. Not only is this book well written, the most important thing is that is truly points to Christ himself. The Gospel is clearly defined and this book is great for everyone including those who do not know Christ.
This was an amazing read! I truly loved the viewpoints Ryan took for each of the stories. The viewpoint of the Passover had to be my favorite. I’ve never thought of the story from that angle before, eventhough it has always been one of my favorite prophecies. The account of Rahab was incredibly powerful! David… Noah… Joshua and the 5 kings!!! All of it was amazing and eye opening.
I was telling my college my class on Sunday that I just want to sit down and read the entire old testament right now, instantly!! There is sooooo much we have missed. Thank you Ryan.
Ryan effectively tells each story as if he were telling it to his son. His ability to capture the essence of the Scriptures and retell these stories in a way that grabs the reader is incredible. Thank you Ryan for showing me new things about our King and being willing to spend the time and energy to discover those truths within the shadows of the Old Testament.
Wow. this book was amazing. I absolutely loved all the Scripture references. God has truly gifted Ryan with a talent and passion for sharing His Word with others and I am so grateful that He has. This book definitely exhibits that.
Amazing book, Ryan…..keep it up!
Just finished and reviewed this second book. Personally what did I take from it?
Ahh, a pastor’s heart yearning to tell the story of his Creator in order to build the kingdom and bring to his Savior ‘the joy that was set before Him’ meaning all who would hear and receive the glorious story of salvation.
Wonderful read. Thank you for your faithfullness.

Great book that clearly shows the true relationship between the Old and New Testaments. Ryan really takes you back to where you are actually living the story. Reading this book has inspired me to search deeper in my own Bible reading to see Christ in the Old Testament. It’s eye opening to see all of it.
Ryan’s articulation of the gospel in and through these Old Testament stories is clear and compelling! A real joy to read, The Shadow provides readers with a unique look at several stories in the Old Testament and how they point to the person and work of Jesus Christ. My favorite chapter was the last chapter, and my favorite quote from the book came here as well: “If you do not fall under the blood of the lamb you will fall before the tooth and claw of the lion” (p. 196). God will use this book to draw people to himself! May we get into the hands of those who need to hear the message of the gospel!
This was incredible read. I bought the book from Ryan When he was speaking at First Baptist Corinth and kind of set it aside because i was already reading three other books. I picked the book back up three months later and was astounded by how well this book was written and the message it conveyed.I could not stop reading it. The bible is about Christ and Christ redeeming his people through and through and Ryan’s book “The Shadow” clearly shows this. I loved the feeling of waking up in the morning and reading and feeling as if i had learned something new about God’s word. I also love that Ryan put the direct scripture Quotes in the back of the chapters which inspired me to go and read the entire chapter or book. Very good job i would recommend this book to anyone.
